The Mirror of Galadriel

Contest winner entry to the Hungarian Tolkien Society's Artisan Crafts Contest 2014.OOAK

Why this:Galadriel is one of my favourite characters in Tolkien's universe is Galadriel. I like the complexity and the evolution of her personality, especially adding those details written in The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales.So that was no question for me that I would like to make something for the contesdt which has some connections with her.[Footnotes: I don't really like those representations of her seen in the Hobbit movies where she has some kind of weird romantic relationship with Gandalf. It is known from the History of Middle Earth series of Tolkien, how the 'moral codes' were by the elves of Middle Earth.] I know that the original mirror of Galadriel wasn't a mirror made of glass, but it was a silver basin water within. I wanted to make a visual implementation of the "elvish style", reflect on the characteristics of the Elven realm Lothlórien itself (silver-golden [depends on the season] leaves and golden flowers of mellyrn- Mallorn trees) but keep the mirror symbol somehow in core.

Made of:Mirror (surprisingly) + polymer clay - hand crafted (hand sculpted, hand painted, with varnish) +Crystal czech glass beads + metal accessories + silver plated chainDesign and crafting by me

A győztes pályázati munkám, melyet a Magyar Tolkien Társaság 2014. évi Iparművészeti Pályázatára készítettem.
Egyedi darab (ez az egy készült belőle)

Hogy miért pont ilyen:
Az egyik kedvenc szereplőm a Tolkien Univerzumból Galadriel. Szeretem a karakter komplexitását és azt, ahogyan Tolkien a személyiségfejlődését leírja, különösen, ha figyelembe vesszük A Szilmarilokban és a Gyűrű Keresésében leírtakat.
Így nem volt kérdés, hogy a pályázatra valami olyasmit csináljak, ami vele kapcsolatos.
(Lábjegyzet, hogy nem kimondottan szeretem pl. a Hobbit filmekben azon megjelenítéseit, amelyben valamiféle bizarr romantikus kapcsolatot ábrázolnak Gandalffal, tekintetbe véve a HoME kötetekben Tolkien által leírt részleteket a tündék magánéletéről és erkölcsi elveikről.)
Tisztában vagyok vele, hogy Galadriel tükre nem üvegből készült tükör volt, hanem egy ezüst tál vízzel. A célom az volt, hogy visszaadjak valamennyit a "tünde-stílusból" és Lothlórien tünde birodalmának karakterisztikájából (a mallorn fák arany-ezüst leveleivel, [évszaktól függően] és arany virágaival a középpontban) de megtartva a tükör motívumot a középpontban.

Amiből készült:
Egy tükör (meglepő módon) + polymer clay - kézzel formázott és festett valamint lakkozott + cseh csiszolt üveggyöngyök + fém kiegészítők + ezüstözött fém lánc.

A tervezés/design a ötlet és a kivitelezés az én munkám, a fotó viszont

érdeme.

Narya

My jewelry, Narya ring on the Hobbit premier event of the Hungarian Tolkien Society, on our Gandalf's hand - It was a part of his costume I didn't want to make a copy of the LOTR movie version, I reconsidered the jewelry concept a bit. I hope you like it :)

Nem másolatot szerettem volna készíteni, hanem egy kicsit új koncepciót, megtartva a filmek látványvilágát.

Middle Earth Fair - Középfölde vásár

The Hungarian Tolkien society held a Middle Earth fair in the Corvin Cinema, in connection with the events of celebrating the premier of the Hobbit movie. I had the opportunity not only to help in the making of the costumes and make-ups for the events, but to sell my Tolkien inspired jewelries on the Middle Earth fair. It was a great fun and challenge to produce quality costumes and to make a full fantasy make-up for elves, dwarves, hobbits and Gandalf. :)

A Hobbit premiernek köszönhetően a Magyar Tolkien Társaság több eseményt is rendezhetett a Corvin moziban. Ennek keretében került megrendezésére a Középfölde vásár is, ahol megjelenhettek az én ékszereim is a vitrinben. Emellett lehetőségem adódott részt venni a jelmezek készítésében, illetve "Középföldivé" sminkelni a tünde- törp és hobbit jelölteket, valamint Gandalfot. Jó móka és izgalmas kihívás volt. :)
